Dual study nursing

Profile

In 8 semesters, you will acquire professional certification as a nursing specialist, a Bachelor of Science degree and the competence to independently practice medicine in the areas of diabetes, dementia and chronic wounds.

Qualify for the care of people of all ages through the generalist degree course and get to know the diverse fields of activity and areas of work of academically qualified nursing professionals.

Benefit from the close integration of the three learning locations - university, nursing practice and skills and simulation center - and receive a monthly payment from the provider of your practical university nursing training as part of the dual study program.

Contents & Procedure

As part of the dual study program, you will sign a training contract with a cooperating practice facility and get to know all relevant nursing areas and different nursing disciplines in alternating theoretical and practical phases.

The practical application of nursing and related scientific knowledge plays a special role in the course. Students learn to find science-based answers to everyday questions in nursing practice and to adapt these to their individual nursing situations

In addition, students deepen their knowledge in the areas of diabetes, dementia and chronic wounds ("curative modules") and learn about new and innovative fields of work for academic nursing professionals.

During their studies, students are enabled to provide comprehensive, theory-based and evidence-based nursing care, which also includes the areas of health promotion and prevention, rehabilitation and palliation in particular.

From 2025, the dual nursing degree program will lead to an extended, two-part state examination (Part I professional nursing license, Part II "medical competence") and to excellent development and career opportunities in a dynamically developing healthcare system.

A detailed description of all topics and contents of the Nursing degree program (B.Sc.) can be found in our module handbook. The alternation of theoretical and practical phases can be found in the study plan provides information. The Special Examination Regulations (SPO) provide an overview of the evidence of academic achievement and the state examinations.
