For their outstanding voluntary commitment to the student body of Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society (HWG LU), the student parliament has now awarded its former president Maurice Fuchs and the general board member of the AStA, Claudio Albano, honorary membership of the student body. The decision was unanimous.
Claudio Albano, a student on the Bachelor's degree course in International Human Resources Management and Organization, has been an active member of the AStA since July 2022 and has also been a general board member of the student committee since December 2022. "Claudio has made a significant contribution to bringing the AStA and StuPa closer together. In addition to his busy work as a board member, he has also managed several AStA departments on a temporary basis," said Nicolas Hölzel, current President of the StuPa, explaining the election.
Maurice Fuchs, a graduate of the dual Bachelor's degree program in International Business Administration, has been involved in the StuPA since September 2022 - first as Vice President and then as President from May to September 2023. "In his roles as Vice President and StuPa President, Maurice significantly raised the StuPa's profile and attractiveness, introduced reforms to make the StuPa capable of acting again after the coronavirus pandemic and modernized procedures and processes. He has significantly promoted constructive cooperation with the university management and the Studierendenwerk Vorderpfalz," Hölzel added:
"On behalf of the student parliament, I am extremely pleased to welcome Claudio Albano and Maurice Fuchs as honorary members of our student body. The fact that the StuPa's approval was unanimous shows the special appreciation of their achievements in promoting a lively, democratic university culture. I am sure that both of them will continue to be available to the student body with their valuable advice as honorary members and will remain connected to the university via the support association even after their active time," explained Nicolas Hölzel.
"With 4,000 students from different cultures, perspectives and backgrounds, our university makes an important contribution to society. Established democratic structures and student participation are an important driving force and shape the university landscape according to the students' ideas. For the future, it is therefore essential to contribute to the functioning and resilience of democracy, especially in view of anti-democratic developments in Europe, so that the university remains what it is today: a place of science, encounters and intergenerational exchange, co-designed by the students," affirmed Maurice Fuchs, former President of the StuPa, on his appointment.
