We provide general information for first-time and newly enrolled students on Bachelor's and consecutive Master's degree programs. You will soon find program-specific information and offers in the section of your respective degree program on this page.

HWG LU App

The central component of your studies is the HWG-LU App. Here you will find your digital student ID, all the important portals and offers relating to student life. And best of all, there is even a special section for our first semester students!

Pre-course Mathematics (Monday, 24.02 - Friday, 28.02.2025)

Studying business studies without math? Not possible!

The pre-course in mathematics takes place online from February 24 to 28 and is of interest to anyone who wants to brush up on their school knowledge. Here for more information and registration.

Central first semester welcome (Monday, 03.03.2025)

The central welcome and information event for our first-year students will take place on March 3, 2025 as an in-person event in the Aula (A building, Ernst-Boehe-Str. 4 in LU).

We will provide further information on the schedule and program on an ongoing basis on the corresponding page in our Campus Events calendar of events on an ongoing basis.

The rest of the introductory week is organized by the degree programs. You will soon find the program in the section of your respective degree programs on this page. Participation is strongly recommended!

Please note: MBA students are not required to attend the introductory week. You will usually be informed in detail in writing or in person by the contact person responsible for your degree programs.

Free food in the canteen! Handing out vouchers at the first semester welcome ceremony

Culinary welcome to all first semester students!

The Studierendenwerk Vorderpfalz also says welcome to Ludwigshafen and invites all HWG LU first semester students to a free meal in the canteen. You can find out what's on offer in the canteen menu.

All new students can pick up their Mensa ticket at the central HWG LU first semester welcome on March 3, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. at the Studierendenwerk Vorderpfalz stand in front of the university auditorium.

If you like, you can also take the opportunity to ask questions about studying at the Studierendenwerk advice center.

Ecumenical welcome service (Tuesday, 04.03.)

The traditional ecumenical welcome service, to which all first semester students, students, teachers and staff are cordially invited, will take place on Tuesday, March 3, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the auditorium (A building, Ernst-Boehe-Str. 4 in LU).

University portal

The university portal, with its self-service functions, is used for independent study administration. There you can, for example, print a certificate of enrolment and a certificate in accordance with § 9 BAföG, keep your address details up to date, register for exams and view grades and keep an eye on your fee account.

Student Service Center (SSC)

The Student Service Center combines the areas of "Student Management" and "Application Management". If you have any questions regarding the administrative organization of your studies (e.g. subsequent submission of enrolment documents, re-registration, examinations, etc.), please contact the SSC Student Management staff.

  • The central first semester welcome for all students of the university will take place on Monday, March 03, 2025from 9:30 a.m. in the auditorium on the campus at Ernst-Boehe-Straße 4. All newly enrolled students will be welcomed by the President of the university, Prof. Dr. Piller.   • Also on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. , the Computer Center team will offer an introduction to the IT systems. This introduction is particularly useful if you are a new student at the HWG and need support in setting up your university account, your WLAN access or in using the university portals. Bringing your own device such as a laptop or tablet is an advantage, but PCs are also available on site. The event will take place in the C building, room C1.003.
  • The event "Introduction to the degree programs" (MASA1a) will take place on Thursday, 06 March 2025 from 10-14:15 (A-building, room A204). On this day, you will be welcomed as students of the Master of Social Work by the Dean's Office, the head of degree program and the degree program organization, as well as guided through the day with the support of the student council and students from higher semesters. Please make a note of this date!
  • The regular courses in this first semester are scheduled for Tuesday (attendance), Wednesday morning (online), Thursday (attendance) and individual block dates at weekends. Around mid-January, you will find all courses for the summer semester 2025 in the course portal: https://qisweb.icms.hwg-lu.de/ (you can skip the login here and navigate to the course catalog for the Master's in Social Work via the "Courses" button). The start of the lecture period is March 10, 2025.
