As part of the festivities marking the 35th anniversary of the partnership between Rhineland-Palatinate and the Chinese province of Fujian, Vice Governor Lin visited the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society with a five-member delegation. On behalf of the University of Fuzhou, with which the university has been cooperating for over 20 years, he brought a new cooperation agreement with him, which was signed by University President Prof. Dr. Gunther Piller. Vice-Governor Lin himself studied civil engineering at Fuzhou University and still feels close to his alma mater. During a small event, President Piller welcomed the Vice Governor and emphasized the importance of this cooperation. Over the years, more than 100 students on both sides have studied one or two semesters abroad at the respective partner university as part of the cooperation. The cooperation agreement is now to be renewed every five years in order to maintain the dialog and make adjustments. Governor Lin followed Mr. Piller by talking about possible new cooperation opportunities in nursing, health insurance and further student exchanges. Mr. Lin concluded his speech with a quote from Confucius in view of his stay at a university: "Education creates trust. Trust creates hope. Hope brings peace."
