A brief summary of the degree programs...

The Master's degree program "Innovative Care Practice in Nursing and Midwifery" at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society is application-oriented and geared towards the complex requirements of a dynamically developing professional field.

Against the background of increasing quality requirements, the establishment of new tasks for the professions of nursing and midwifery and the associated need for cooperation and interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration, the consecutive Master's degree program "Innovative Care Practice in Nursing and Midwifery" aims to qualify students for care design in the outpatient and inpatient sector and in inter- and transsectoral care.

In the compulsory elective area , students have the opportunity to set their own priorities in their studies. Among other things, they can choose between the phases of life "old age" and "pregnancy, birth, puerperium, breastfeeding and early childhood".

At the heart of the course is a one-semester practical project in which the knowledge acquired during the course is put into practice and reflected upon. It is carried out in a healthcare facility/accompanied by a freelance midwife and is intensively supervised by both the midwife and university lecturers. The university accompanies the practical project by providing professional support and opportunities for reflection.

The Master's aims to enable students and prospective students to study at their own pace. With this in mind, the degree programs are offered both full-time and part-time.

The full-time course is only compatible with a clearly limited professional activity. The part-time part-time course always makes sense for you if you expect to need longer than 3 semesters to complete the course. This means that it is possible to study individually. Further information can be found under "Structure".

Content & procedure

Full-time course structure

The course is designed as a 4-semester full-time course.

The application-oriented Master's degree program imparts theoretical and methodological knowledge in four qualification strands:

  1. Research in practice
  2. Implementation of concepts
  3. Implementation of concepts in a social context
  4. Theory-practice transfer (compulsory elective)

In a total of 9 modules, students can acquire personal, social, methodological and academic skills at Master's level:

In the compulsory elective area, students have the opportunity to set their own priorities in their studies. Among other things, they can choose between the phases of life "old age" and "pregnancy, birth, puerperium, breastfeeding and early childhood" .

The core of the degree program is a one-semester practical project in a healthcare facility/accompanied by a freelance midwife, which is completed as an internship. The university accompanies the practical project by providing professional support and opportunities for reflection.

Structure of the part-time degree program

The part-time M.A. degree program is divided into eight modules plus a Master's thesis. Like the full-time degree program, it comprises 120 ECTS credits.

The modules form self-contained study units that lead to a partial qualification related to the respective study objective. Modules are completed within one semester. The part-time program combines two different formats, e.g. block seminars and online education.

You can find the exact study plan under Download on the right-hand side.
