As part of the Stifterverband's diversity audit, universities are supported in creating suitable structures and developing tools to include diverse groups of people in everyday university life. On March 6, 2024, HWG LU received the "Shaping Diversity" certificate. This was preceded by a two-year auditing process in which university employees, students and professors worked together under the moderation of the auditor, Prof. Ganseuer, to develop goals and measures to make the university more diverse. The focus of the diversity audit was the further development of the university's internationalization. But the topic of diversity at HWG LU is far from over. For the university, diversity is an important pillar of university development and therefore a process that must be promoted on an ongoing basis.

Another important topic that the university would like to work on until the next certification is, for example, the protection of its members and guests from discrimination of any kind. In addition, the university would like to increase awareness of its diversity-related offers, make life on campus more attractive and further develop the understanding of diversity at the university. In the area of studies and education, the university aims to develop competence-oriented learning objectives that take student diversity into account as part of best-practice course profiles.
