The F.A.Z. wrote of the "most beautiful festival in Germany", others call it "Cannes on the Rhine". It is undisputed that the German Film Festival has created a wonderful atmosphere on Ludwigshafen's Parkinsel in late summer for many years. Two years ago, the alumni network meeting took place there, followed by a joint film viewing.
The Board of the Friends' Association received requests from several sides to repeat this format. On September 4, the time had come: a good two dozen alumni, students, friends and supporters of the HWG LU met in the early evening for an informal exchange over sparkling wine, wine and tarte flambée in the festival lounge. Among them were University President Prof. Dr. Gunther Piller and his wife, both avowed fans of the film festival and members of the Friends and Patrons Association.
At around 8 p.m., the party moved to the tent cinema where, after a short speech by festival director Michael Kötz, the German tragicomedy "Wochenendrebellen" (Weekend Rebels), which was nominated for the Rheingold Audience Award, was shown.
After the screening, Tatjana Kamrad, Chairwoman of the Friends' Association, was delighted with the praise from attendees for the successful event and the selection of films - and, of course, the fact that new members were recruited to the association that evening.
