...to communicate its mission statement to all current and future teaching staff, employees and students and to make it a guideline for action.

Background to the mission statement and implementation strategy

The mission statement was developed in a joint process between October 2013 and June 2014. Initial ideas and content were developed in a university-wide World Café in October 2013. These were then fleshed out and supplemented in special meetings of the departmental councils in November. A second World Café in January 2014 compiled and discussed the results developed up to that point. A mission statement delegate group was formed to further coordinate the content of the mission statement. It was tasked with formulating a draft mission statement based on the results of the discussions. The panel of delegates consisted of representatives from the Departments, the student body, the administration, the Staff Council, the Equal Opportunities Department and the university management.

In the period from January to May 2014, the delegates developed a draft mission statement. This was first discussed in the faculty councils and approved by the Senate and then the University Council in June. Until then, the mission statement and its development had been addressed and discussed in various committees and events.

It was important to all university members involved in the development of the mission statement of the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society that the mission statement not only reflects the university's self-image and current reality, but also formulates goals and visions for the future. These should form the basis for the further development of our university.

Implementation of the mission statement

In October 2014, the next steps for implementing the mission statement were jointly developed in the mission statement delegates' meeting. The ideas will be discussed within the university and gradually implemented. The implementation of the ideas, goals and visions anchored in the mission statement will be a particular focus at the university over the next few years. The implementation of the mission statement is conceptually anchored in the university's quality management system. Conceptually, it is intended that the strategic goals of the mission statement and the other strategic goals of the degree programs, Departments and the university serve as a starting point for specifying goals and developing suitable measures to achieve them.
