Following the guiding principle "Living cooperation and shaping innovation", the EMPOWER project team met on July 19 on the campus of Mainz University of Applied Sciences for a professional exchange followed by a summer party. About 50 team members first met in the auditorium to get up to date on the project level.
The short presentations once again revealed the thematic diversity of EMPOWER: The topics, which are as exciting as they are current and on which the collaborative universities are already working closely and interdisciplinarily in some cases, range from the optimization of data-driven production processes to the prevention of training dropouts in health professions and electrical energy generation from hydrogen to virtual crime scene analysis in cyber forensics or a New Work experimentation room.
For an informal end to the afternoon, the team went to the neighboring courtyard, where the barbecue was already ready and the team could strengthen themselves with coffee, chilled drinks and tasty buffet food and continue networking.
EMPOWER is a joint project launched in January. Five Rhineland-Palatinate universities from Rheinhessen and the Vorderpfalz are involved, each contributing a megatrend topic to the alliance. In addition to interdisciplinary networking and a research-based transfer of ideas, knowledge and technology, the aim is also to develop a science-based innovation system for current and future issues across universities and together with cooperation partners from society, science, business and culture.
The joint project EMPOWER is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in the funding line "Innovative University" for a period of five years. Participants are Mainz University of Applied Sciences (Connectivity), Mainz Catholic University of Applied Sciences (Health), Bingen University of Applied Sciences (Sustainability), Worms University of Applied Sciences (Cyber Security) and Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society (New Work).
