In the fall, the first dual German-French master's degree program in viticulture & Oenologie (Franco-Allemand Viticulture et OEnologie, FAVO for short) will start at the wine campus in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse and at the Université de Haute-Alsace in Colmar. #
Minister of Viticulture Dr. Volker Wissing and Minister of Science Prof. Dr. Konrad Wolf handed over the approval letter to Dr. Günter Hoos, Head of the Service Center Rural Area "Rheinpfalz" in Neustadt an der Weinstraße.
The project has been approved in the Interreg V A program "Upper Rhine" and receives funding of around 1.5 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
"Training young people on a European scale, that is Europe in action for us," emphasized Rhineland-Palatinate's Minister of Viticulture and Economic Affairs, Dr. Volker Wissing. "With this unique cross-border cooperation for training in viticulture, we offer young winegrowers an exciting perspective. The dual Franco-German Master's in Viticulture & Oenology serves as an important door opener into the international professional world, not only for wineries, but also for natural scientists with majors in biology, chemistry or food technology who want to establish themselves in the international wine industry."
