On April 8, 2025, we once again had the pleasure of hosting an inspiring start-up Tuesdayat HWG LU - this time with a very special guest: Alex Brager, an alumnus of our Bachelor's degree program in Marketing. Together with his co-founder Julius Schubert, whom he met during his Master's degree at Worms University of Applied Sciences, he founded NextDayMedia, an innovative start-up for AI-based automation in e-commerce.
However, his presentation focused not only on the business model, but above all on the question of what it really takes to found a company - and to run it successfully in the long term. Alex Brager shared his personal experiences and insights from everyday start-up life openly and honestly.
He particularly emphasized the importance of networking - not only in professional life, but already during his studies. "Ideas are important, but the right people are crucial," was his clear message to the students. He also openly addressed the topic of failure: It is completely normal to make mistakes, he said - it is just important to test early and boldly. "It's better to have ten imperfect tests than one perfect concept in a quiet room," he encouraged the audience.
He also emphasized the relevance of practical relevance and implementation. "The theory you learn during your studies is important and forms the basis - but nothing replaces real action. The main thing is to get started!" was his appeal. And finally, he emphasized how crucial focus is for sustainable growth: "Focus is the engine of growth. Don't be distracted by every shiny trend."
The exchange afterwards was intense - the students asked many interested questions and took the opportunity to gain honest insights into the everyday life of a start-up.
It was an all-round successful Start-up Tuesday, which showed how valuable real experiences and personal encounters are for students interested in founding a company. Many thanks to Alex Brager for his visit, his openness and his inspiration - we look forward to following his path!
