Dr Andreas Gissel, Professor of Business Administration, in particular Logistics and Organization in the Marketing and Human Resource Management Department at HWG LU, was awarded the Rhineland-Palatinate Teaching Prize by Science Minister Konrad Wolf for his outstanding achievements in university teaching. The prize is endowed with €10,000 and is awarded every two years by the Ministry of Science, Further Education and Culture (MWWK).
For his outstandingachievements in university teaching, Prof. Dr. Andreas Gissel, Professor of Business Administration, in particular Logistics and Organization, at Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society, received the Rhineland-Palatinate State Teaching Award for Universities in the subject group of Social Sciences, Law, Economics, Art and Music. The state honored his great commitment to education and students: "You do a great job and are important contacts for the students," said Minister Wolf in his laudatory speech for the ten award winners.
Prof. Dr. Andreas Gissel was delighted to receive the award: "I think it's great that education at our university is coming into focus through this competition. In fact, I think that many colleagues at HWG LU are doing an excellent job in this respect. That's why I already felt that the nomination by the Departments was an honor. The news that I am now one of the award winners is of course wonderful feedback - not only for me, but also for our entire university," said Gissel, explaining: "Good education can only develop in a positive environment. In my opinion, this includes freedom, e.g. with regard to the design of the courses and the exchange with the students. I have always found this creative freedom at HWG LU since I started 38 semesters ago, and I am extremely grateful for that! In the end, it is precisely this freedom and error-tolerant environment that motivates me to keep trying out new topics and event formats." Gissel plans to use the prize money of €10,000 to further internationalize education.
The university management and the Department of Marketing and Human Resources Management were also delighted with the award: "Professor Andy Gissel has not only been enthusiastically teaching his core subjects of logistics and supply chain management for many years. He also always looks for interfaces with other disciplines and moves into new fields. A very good example is the course on project management in the academic continuing education program for nursing professionals as part of the open university project "E to the power of B". In this way, Professor Gissel contributes a great deal to the interdisciplinarity of the university and shows himself to be a great fan of "living diversity" among students and staff," explained Prof. Dr. Ellen Bareis, Vice President for Studies and Education, Quality Management and Arts and Culture. "Our Department nominated Andreas Gissel because, in addition to his great commitment to self-administration, he always achieves extraordinary things in education and students in numerous degree programs benefit from this. We are proud of our colleague. He absolutely deserves the award," emphasized Dean Prof. Dr. Klaus Blettner.
