StartupWednesday: "Where can I get support if I want to start up?"

The start-up office of the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society had invited to the 1st Start-up Wednesday in the winter semester 2023/2024 on 11.10.2023 and all stakeholders around founding came.

To the question "Where can I get support if I want to start up?", there were numerous answers from the IHK Pfalz, TZL-Regionales Innovationszentrum Ludwigshafen, Freischwimmer and W.E.G. Ludwigshafen.

Dr. Marius Melzer and Martin Holaus presented the tasks of the IHK Pfalz in general and specifically for founders in sideline business or during their studies. The range of support services extends from classic business start-up advice to consultation days on legal, tax or patent law issues to advice on funding programs and a large network.

In addition to office and laboratory space and consulting services, TZL-TechnologieZentrum Ludwigshafen am Rhein GmbH offers technology-oriented and innovative founders, among other things, meeting rooms, consultation hours with lawyers, tax advisors and other experts, events and networking. TZL managing director Michael Hanf reported that those willing to found a company can already receive help in the pre-founding phase in the form of an equipped furnished office space and free consulting services. In order to receive certain subsidies, it is important to get support as early as possible. Michael Hanf emphasized that contacts and a good network are very important.

Jozua Knol described Freischwimmer as a home for startups. The former indoor swimming pool functions as an event location, but also offers office space, co-working spaces and the best coffee, which he invited attendees to enjoy during an on-site tour. He also reiterated the importance of exchanging ideas with other startups and larger companies.

Last but not least, Bettina Stier introduced the WirtschaftsEntwicklungsGesellschaft Ludwigshafen. The W.E.G. is an interface between companies and the city administration and is responsible not only for business development, but also for urban development. Start-ups and companies looking for a location or suitable premises can contact the W.E.G.. In conclusion, Bettina Stier also emphasized once again how important networking is for founders.

Afterwards, all participants had the opportunity to address their individual questions to the speakers at the stands in the foyer of the university and to exchange ideas and make contacts with them and the other participants.
