The Senate of the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society (HWG LU) elected a new President and a new Chancellor yesterday: Prof. Dr. Gunther Piller, currently Dean of the Department of Economics at Mainz University of Applied Sciences, will succeed Prof. Dr. Peter Mudra as President of the university in March 2022. Carolin Nöhrbaß will head the university administration as Chancellor.
At the Senate meeting on October 20, 2021, the leadership positions of President and Chancellor at HWG LU were newly regulated by election. The election committee, represented by its chairman, Prof. Dr. Rudolf Mohr, submitted the following results to the election management:
Prof. Dr. Gunther Piller (58) was elected to the position of President. The theoretical physicist, business information scientist and current Dean of the Department of Economics at Mainz University of Applied Sciences, who holds a doctorate and habilitation, declared to the electoral assembly that he would accept the election. He will take on the role after the term of office of the current holder, Prof. Dr. Peter Mudra, ends on 15.03.2022. Mudra, who has held the presidency since March 2010, did not stand for re-election after 12 years in office.
The Senate elected Carolin Nöhrbaß to the position of Chancellor. She also accepted the election during the election meeting. The 41-year-old lawyer has been at the university in Ludwigshafen since 2013, initially as an advisor to the then Chancellor Klaus Eisold, then as Legal Advisor and Deputy Chancellor. Carolin Nöhrbaß has been entrusted with the role of Chancellor since March 2020. She is expected to officially take over the role in the coming weeks.
