Concentration problems, lack of motivation and being overwhelmed - distance and alternate learning have presented students with extreme challenges in recent months that not all have been able to cope with. School psychologists point to the increasing problems with learning organization and motivation, which continue to have an impact even after the schools have reopened. To help students quickly and without complications, BASF and Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar GmbH (MRN) launched the educational project "Deine Lernbox - alles drin für Schülerinnen und Schüler in der Metropolregion Rhine-Neckar" (Your Learning Box - Everything Inside for Students in the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Area) at the beginning of the year.
Since May 2021, the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society has also been involved in the project and, in particular, supports the online mentoring program "Deine Lernbox - Digi-Coach". Students, education staff and employees help students organize and cope with everyday learning. As mentors, they meet their "mentees" in a virtual conference room and work together, usually in five to six online sessions of 60 minutes each, on provided learning content around the topics of learning motivation and organization. In the process, they work out answers to questions such as: How do I structure my everyday life? When do I learn best? How do I create a good learning environment? Or: How does good learning actually work? The mentors and their protégés are supported and accompanied by the program designer Volunteer Vision.
"Many people are currently talking about the problems faced by students, but thanks to the initiative of BASF and MRN, we had the opportunity to help in a very concrete way! As a university for business and society, there was no question for us that we would participate in this regional educational project," explained university president Prof. Dr. Peter Mudra.
