For the Children's University Lecture on January 22, 2020, we met for an adventurous journey "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" at the City Library. Here, all kids should get the opportunity to take this trip who had not been given a place in summer 209. Unfortunately, many of them probably didn't think about it anymore - despite remembering.
And so Mrs. Gensheimer and Mrs. Goldschmidt, employees of the public library, had a small but nice lectures with unfortunately only three kids. It started with the assembly of VR glasses. This took some patience and also little help. Afterwards, cell phones were distributed, which were inserted into the glasses - and then we could start.
In 1866, the adventure began as sailors reported monsters, islands and other bizarre things. The oceanographer Professor Pierre Arronax came, after a shipwreck, to the Nautilus to Captain Nemo. There he experienced exciting adventures.
The story was always interrupted to catch a view of the open sea, the premises of the Nautilus, to walks on the seabed or the emergence of the giant octopus with the VR glasses. And during the excursions on the seabed you saw - Atlantis: so there was........?!?
Of course, that was a lot of fun.
If you want to build VR goggles at home and then dive into the world of adventure with your cell phone, you'll need an app: google expedition - and you're ready to go.
With a book detailing the oceanographer's journey and their completed Kinderuni badges, the kids went home satisfied.
We look forward to your visit on January 28, 2020 at 4:30 pm at the university, which will be about racism. Until then, best regards
Your Children's University Team
