On 12.11.2024, an important step for student co-determination was taken at our university: The founding of the Student Council in the Department of Management, Controlling, HealthCare (FB 1). The initiative to establish this came from four committed students - Adrian Kohl, Jonas Heinze, Noah Laufer and Anna-Maria E. - who were already volunteering on the Faculty Council and recognized the need for organized student representation.
After a brief orientation phase, the four founding members worked intensively for several months to implement their vision. The main preparations included drawing up a constitution and rules of procedure, developing a structure, recruiting candidates for the soon to be elected student council and establishing a basis for communication with the students. They all managed these extensive tasks on a voluntary basis - a strong sign of their commitment and passion for the cause.
The founding of the student council was met with great interest and support from the professors and staff of Department 1. As a sign of their appreciation for the students' commitment, they were happy to help serve mulled wine afterwards and celebrate the successful launch of the student council together.
With the new student council, Department 1 has gained a strong voice for the students, who will represent their interests in the future, organize excursions and seminars, and actively promote the alumni network and exchange within the university.
We look forward to the upcoming projects and the positive change that this commitment will bring to our Department.
