New master's program "Innovative Care Practice in Nursing and Midwifery" starts in the summer semester

A new Master's program in Nursing and Midwifery will start at the Department of Social and Health Care in the summer semester of 2021 under the direction of Professor Dr. Regina Brunnett. Applications for the accredited program are open until the end of January via the university's application portal.

From the summer semester 2021, the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society will be offering a new Master's program in Nursing and Midwifery entitled "Innovative Care Practice in Nursing and Midwifery". The newly accredited course, led by Professor Dr. Regina Brunnett, is aimed at graduates of dual Bachelor's degree programs in nursing and midwifery or related degree programs. The skills acquired in the Bachelor's degree courses are expanded and deepened in a practical way in the consecutive Master's degree course. The course is designed as a 4-semester full-time course; students can choose between "Ageing" and "Pregnancy, birth, puerperium, breastfeeding and early childhood"in the compulsory elective area. The core of the Master's program is a one-semester practical project in a healthcare facility or in the company of a freelance midwife. The university accompanies the internship project by providing professional support and opportunities for reflection. The course concludes with a Master of Arts (M.A.) and qualifies students for a subsequent doctorate.

"The Master's degree course 'Innovative Care Practice in Nursing and Midwifery' is application-oriented and is geared towards the complex requirements in a dynamically developing professional field. Against the background of increasing quality requirements, the establishment of new tasks for the professions of nursing and midwifery and the associated need for cooperation and interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration, the degree programme aims to enable students to recognize the current and future challenges in nursing and midwifery care as well as the need for and potential for change in healthcare facilities and to develop, test and implement suitable concepts. One focus is on qualification for cross-sectoral care design," explains course director Professor Dr. Regina Brunnett.

University President Professor Dr. Peter Mudra is also delighted with the launch of the new degree program: "The Master's degree program 'Innovative Care Practice in Nursing and Midwifery' is another important addition to our healthcare portfolio, which once again takes the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society a big step forward as a healthcare focus of the state government," says Mudra.

Applications for the accredited program are possible until the end of January 2021 via the university's application portal:
