The Association of Friends and Sponsors of Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences has made a virtue of necessity. While alumni events usually take place twice a year in person, this has not been possible in the last year and a half. The association therefore invited alumni, friends and supporters of HWG LU to an online wine tasting event in May.
Thanks to the connection to the Neustadt wine campus , it quickly became clear in advance who was to carry out the tasting. And not only that - the Neustadt colleagues were also thankfully very involved in the conception and preparation of the event and ensured that over 30 participants received a package with six tasting bottles and accompanying information in advance.
The wine tasting itself was hosted by Prof. Dominik Durner, who also took the opportunity that evening to briefly introduce the Wine Campus. Three white and three red Palatinate wines were then tasted, each from the NEO line of the Weincampus or from the neighboring Neustadt state winery. Under Durner's expert guidance, the participants were able to enjoy unexpected aromas, while the alumni and those with ties to the university also learned a lot of interesting facts about wine and grape varieties. All in all, it was a successful event which, for the first time, gave alumni from outside the region the opportunity to keep in touch with their old university, as one participant from Bonn noted with satisfaction.
