At the end of the 2019/2020 winter semester, Prof. Dr. Rainer Busch will retire after more than 20 years at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society. The Professor of Business Administration, in particular International Marketing, in the Department of Marketing and Human Resource Management, and Head of the Institute for International Management Studies (iims) at the university, rendered outstanding services to the university in his role as Vice President for International Affairs and Research in addition to his research and education: from 2010 to 2014, Rainer Busch travelled the world, from Finland to the USA to China, to further advance the university's internationalization strategy. He attached particular importance to the topic of "research-based education" and bringing together education, research and transfer at an international level.
In addition to his teaching activities in the field of marketing and international marketing, Prof. Dr. Rainer Busch focused his research on leadership styles, network management and institutions in China and in a country comparison and was involved in several internationally oriented MBA programs as course director. He has also been a visiting professor at the SAMK University of Applied Sciences in Rauma, Finland, the Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland, Ho Chi Minh University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, ESTA, Belfort, France and Fuzhou University in Fuzhou, China.
University President Prof. Dr. Peter Mudra paid tribute to his long-time companion as a scientist with heart and soul, whose driving force was a never-ending curiosity. "Prof. Dr. Busch introduced innovative teaching formats such as e-learning and blended learning to his courses at a time when hardly anyone had this on their radar for the university sector." According to Mudra, he is very pleased that Prof. Dr. Rainer Busch will continue to support a number of projects at the university, but will now also have much more time for his own exciting topics, which have always had to be put on the back burner in the past.

Rainer Busch, born in 1954, was Professor of Business Administration, in particular International Marketing, at Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences from 1989 to 2020. From 2010 to 2014, he served as Vice President for International Affairs and Research. Prior to this, the doctor of business administration (FH) and graduate economist worked as export group manager at Wolf-Garten and staff manager at Wella International. His research focused on international leadership styles, leadership styles in China, ethnic decision-making and international management networks. Rainer Busch is married and has two sons.
