The fascinating lecture by Japanese professor Dr. Christoph Goro Kimura as part of the international lecture series on 7 October began with an introduction to Sophia University, which was founded by Jesuits. In the lecture that followed, the topic of flight and displacement was compared for Germany, Japan and China, placed in its historical context and its current relevance explained. As a result, similarities in the experience of flight and similar fates of the German and Japanese populations emerged. However, differences also emerged in terms of coming to terms with the past and the culture of remembrance. The lecture was followed by a lively discussion with the participants.
Many thanks to Prof. Dr. Christoph Goro Kimura for the very informative lecture, which offered the audience interesting and exciting insights into the renowned Sophia University Tokyo and enabled us to deal with the topic of flight and expulsion.
We would like to thank the BMBF and DAAD for their support.
