Supply chain disruptions as the norm? Last lecture of the International Lecture Series 20/21

The last lecture in this year's International Lecture Series on November 11, 2021 provided interesting insights into the current state of the logistics industry. Under the title "Is Supply Chain Disruption the New Normal?", Prof. Dr. Kent N. Gourdin from the College of Charleston outlined existing challenges in the industry and gave an outlook for the future.

The lecture by the North Carolina logistics professor began with an introduction to HWG LU's partner university, the College of Charleston. The existing challenges facing the logistics industry were then broken down and placed in the context of the current situation. It emerged that many of the problems leading to the current supply bottlenecks already existed before the pandemic, but were exacerbated by it. Skills shortages, megaships, market consolidation and infrastructure deficiencies are not new challenges. Nevertheless, these problems will remain with us for the foreseeable future and become part of the new normal.

Many thanks to Prof. Dr. Kent N. Gourdin for the very informative lecture, which gave the audience interesting and exciting insights into the renowned College of Charleston and enabled us to engage with the topic of logistics and supply chains.
