For the kick-off event of the transfer alliance "EMPOWER - Living Cooperation and Shaping Innovation", about 80 representatives of five Rhineland-Palatinate universities of applied sciences met at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
The goal of the newly founded transfer alliance, which includes the Mainz University of Applied Sciences, the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Mainz, the Technical University (TH) Bingen and the University of Applied Sciences Worms in addition to the University of Applied Sciences (HWG LU), is to promote the research-based transfer of ideas, knowledge and technology with business and society in the Rhine-Main-Neckar region, particularly in Rheinhessen and the Vorderpfalz.
In terms of content, EMPOWER focuses on five megatrend topics, each of which is managed by a participating university: Connectivity (Mainz University of Applied Sciences), Health (Catholic University of Applied Sciences Mainz), Sustainability (TH Bingen), Cyber Security (Worms University of Applied Sciences) and New Work (HWG LU). The three structural transfer formats Innovation Lab, Competence Center and New Venture serve to address current and future issues in pilot projects in order to develop practice-relevant approaches to solutions. The visibility of the transfer alliance, especially in the region of Rheinhessen/Vorderpfalz, is to be promoted through cross-university events.
EMPOWER is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the "Innovative Hochschule" initiative.
