Complete success: Children's University in WS 2023/2024

"Wounds - a phenomenon of life", "Professions of the future" and "St. Nicholas internationally" were the topics for children aged between eight and twelve at the HWG LU's children's university in the winter semester 2023/2024.

HWG LU's children's university once again had an exciting program for children between the ages of eight and twelve this winter semester: On 15.11.2023, for example, the little students were able to explore the body's self-healing process together with Annika Werner and Professor Dr. Armin Leibig from the Department of Social and Health Care under the title "Wounds - a phenomenon of life". Wound healing is a true miracle of nature and as exciting as a thriller: it can be compared to a small battle in which the body defends itself against external attacks. There's a lot going on in the body! At the end of the children's university lecture, the kids knew exactly what types of wounds there are, how wound healing works, how a wound is best cared for and when it is better to go to the doctor with an injury.

On 29 November 2023, Dr. Peter Mudra, Professor of Human Resources Management and Business Administration in the Department of Marketing and Human Resources Management, then joined the children to explore the topic of "What I want to be when I grow up - careers that are fun and have a future". They looked together at possible dream jobs and examined their future viability.Which professions will still exist in 10, 20 or 30 years' time? And what will they look like then? These were just some of the questions that had to be answered.

The Degree of the Children's University program in the winter semester fell on 6 December and, of course, the theme of "St. Nicholas International" was a good fit for this special day: Ilse Page from the university's International Office presented St. Nicholas traditions from around the world together with international students. Of course, there was not only a lot to learn, but also a Santa Claus bag for the hard-working children's university kids.

A big thank you to this semester's speakers! The children's university program for the summer semester 2024 is currently being prepared and is expected to be available in February 2024 atwww.hwg-lu.de/kinderuni.de

The free children's university lectures are a joint initiative of the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Science and Health and the state's universities.
