Professional tasks of the apprenticeship:
Training as a media and information services specialist is a state-recognized training occupation. During your training, you will acquire the following knowledge and skills, among others:
- Processing procurement processes
- Inventorying media and processing invoices
- Formally record media and information
- Equip media with library technology
- Providing media and information
- Presenting media and information in a customer-oriented way
- Determine customer requirements; inform and advise customers
- Introduce customers to the use of the library
- Conduct research based on customer requests
- Process loans, returns, renewals, reminders and pre-orders
Previous training:
To train as a media and information services specialist, you should have a good secondary school leaving certificate or equivalent.
Duration of training:
Training to become a media and information services specialist usually lasts three years.
Training allowance/leave:
From 2020, the training allowance will be as follows
1st year of training | 1036,82 € |
2nd year of training | 1090,96 € |
3rd year of training | 1140,61 € |
4th year of training | 1209,51 € |
The annual vacation entitlement is 30 working days.
Theoretical training:
Theoretical training usually takes place at the Hermann-Gundert-Schule in Calw (block teaching).
Practical training:
The practical training takes place in the team of the Ludwigshafen University Library with its three library locations. In addition, "taster days" in archives, public libraries and private libraries/documentation facilities are planned.
