Proof of health insurance - electronic notification of insured status
According to § 199a SGB V, all students in Germany are required to have statutory health insurance (1).
Therefore, when a student matriculates (or re-registers), an electronic notification sent by a statutory health insurance company regarding the insured statusmust be available. If this notification is not available, the university may not enrol the student.
How does this work?
- Inform your health insurance company that you wish to study at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society (HWG LU) and ask for the electronic notification "M10" to be generated. State the "sender number" of the HWG LU: "H0000719".
If you are privately insured , you must contact any statutory health insurance company with the request for an "M10" notification. They will then generate the electronic notification with the corresponding status.
Students who have already reached the age of 30 at the time of enrolment do not need to submit an insurance confirmation. - If you change health insurance provider during your studies, the same procedure applies, with the difference that the new health insurance provider must generate a message "M11"to the sender number "H0000719".
Explanation:
The exchange of data between the health insurance company and the university is called the Student Notification Procedure (SMV). The exchange takes place purely electronically in both directions. Within this reporting procedure, reportable data is exchanged between the university and the health insurance fund, i.e. health insurance funds report, for example, the insured status, changes of health insurance fund and information on outstanding or re-paid contributions. The universities send information on the start and end of the insured student's studies.
The following are responsible for issuing the insurance certificate and submitting the insurance status report
for a studentalready insured with a statutory health insurance fund, the statutory health insurance fund with which he/she is insured or will beinsured at the beginning of the semester (usually September 1 in the winter semester, March 1 in the summer semester, at UNI`s also one month later in each case), at the earliest on the day of enrollment,
for students who are exempt from insurance according to § 6 SGB V or for students who are not subject to compulsory insurance, the statutory health insurance fund with which they were last insured - it is irrelevant how long ago the last membership or family insurance was,
for students who have been exempted from compulsory insurance in accordance with § 8 Paragraph 1 Sentence 1 Number 5 SGB V, the statutory health insurance fund that granted the exemption,
otherwise, one of the statutory health insurance funds that could be chosen in the event of compulsory insurance (§ 173 SGB V).
As there are various health insurance options for students, please seek advice from a health insurance company in good time!
