Delegation from HWG LU at the international Erasmus+ job shadowing in Norway

From 25 to 26 March 2025, four representatives from the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society (HWG) Ludwigshafen took part in the international Erasmus+ job shadowing program in Stavanger, Norway. The delegation consisted of Mareike Kast, Valentina Ercoli, Prof. Dr. Karen Fried and Prof. Dr. Michaela Michel-Schuldt. The group from Germany was accompanied by Andrea Köbke, Advisory Board Member for Employees of the German Association of Midwives.

The two-day programme, organized by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) in collaboration with Laerdal Medical, took place at the renowned Laerdal Medical Simulation Lab (SAFER) in Stavanger. The aim was to gain insights into modern simulation training for midwifery education and to receive new impulses for their own education.

In addition to the German delegation, midwifery scientists from Sweden, Norway, Denmark and the Czech Republic also took part. Representatives from the ICM, based in The Hague, were also present, which further emphasized the interdisciplinary and international character of the event.

A central element of the program was the so-called "SimBegin" training, an introductory course on the use of simulations in education. In workshops and practical exercises, the participants gained comprehensive insights into the planning, implementation and reflection of simulation scenarios.

Prof. Dr. Malin Bogren, midwifery scientist from Sweden, emphasized the importance of international exchange: "Simulation training is a powerful tool to prepare future midwives for complex situations. The exchange with colleagues from other countries enriches our perspectives and promotes innovative teaching approaches that we can further develop in our own education systems."

HWG LU's participation in this project underlines the university's commitment to international cooperation and innovative teaching methods in midwifery science.
