Procedure in case of incapacity for examination

In the event of withdrawal or absence due to illness, a medical certificate stating the expected duration of the illness that led to the inability to take the examination must be submitted to SSC Student Management as a scan by e-mail immediately
- but no later than the third day after the examination day

1) Incapacity for examination presented for the first time

In the case of first-time illness, a simple medical certificate (e.g. certificate of incapacity for work) may be submitted as a scan by e-mail to the Student Service Center Student Management (https://www.hwg-lu.de/service/studierendenservicecenter-ssc/fuer-studierende/kontakt-fuer-studierende).

The following must be noted on the certificate:

  • Matriculation number
  • module nameof the examination
  • Date of the examination
    to which the certificate refers.

2) Incapacity for examination presented a second time.

If the same examination cannot be taken a second time due to illness, only the SSC form is to be used as a qualified medical certificate. Medical certificate to justify the inability to take an examination as a scan by e-mail to the Student Service Center Student Management (https://www.hwg-lu.de/service/studierendenservicecenter-ssc/fuer-studierende/kontakt-fuer-studierende).

The attending physician should state the following: 

  • a) duration of the illness
  • b) Dates of medical treatment
  • c) the nature and extent of the illness, stating the facts ascertained by the doctor on the basis of his or her own observations (it is not necessary to state the diagnosis)
  • d) Effects of the illness on the examinations.

3) From the third time presented examination incapacity.

For the third and each subsequent time that you are unable to take an examination for the same examination, you must submit a medical certificate to the Student Service Center Student Management (https://www.hwg-lu.de/service/studierendenservicecenter-ssc/fuer-studierende/kontakt-fuer-studierende) in person or by post.

Important note from the health department of the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis district administration: "Official medical examinations will only be carried out if students present themselves at the Health Office no later than approx. 48 hours after the examination date in question, presenting the family doctor's/specialist doctor's certificate! Proof of the examination date must be provided by submitting suitable documents."     "" Detailed information on the official medical examination - including forms "General practitioner's / specialist's certificate for submission to the public health department""".

Please note:

A medical certificate may cover a period in which several examination dates fall.
As soon as an examination is taken after a medical certificate has been submitted, it loses its validity for this examination as well as for all subsequent dates listed on the medical certificate. Subsequent withdrawal from an examination is not possible.

According to the examination regulations, the illness of a child, for example, is to be equated with the child's own illness. Here, too, an appropriate medical certificate must be submitted within 3 days of the examination date, stating that care is/was required and for what period of time. Procedure as for own illness.

Ifa student breaks off the examination for health reasons, he/she must immediately go to the first-aid room of the university accompanied by a supervisor and wait for the arrival of the emergency doctor.
