Excursions & projects
Company day: Practical career orientation through strong cooperation
The company day is an established and successful event that provides pupils and students with practical insights into the world of work. In close cooperation between the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society (HWG LU), schools and regional companies, job interviews are simulated in order to optimally prepare high school students for the transition into working life. HR management students take on the role of HR managers and apply their theoretical knowledge directly.
This unique concept enables companies to get to know potential junior staff while the participants gain valuable experience for their professional careers. The event takes place both in Speyer in the summer semester and, since the winter semester 2023/24, in Ludwigshafen.

Shaping the future together!
Pupils from Friedrich-Magnus-Schwerd-Gymnasium, students from HWG LU and eleven regional companies - together they are creating a platform for practical career guidance! At the company day in Speyer, high school students experience realistic job interviews, while HR management students put their knowledge into practice. A valuable exchange for everyone involved!
Winter semester - Company day in Ludwigshafen
Career meets company!
After the success in Speyer, the company day is now also available in Ludwigshafen! In cooperation with the Max-Planck-Gymnasium, sixth formers and HWG LU students meet to simulate job interviews together. In this way, young people are optimally prepared for their future - and companies can discover the talents of tomorrow.
Excursions to the labor court - insights into the practice of personnel management
Students on the International Personnel Management (IPO) degree programs experience first-hand the role of HR professionals in labor court negotiations.
Students can observe how judges, lawyers and HR staff negotiate complex labor law conflicts between employers and employees as company representatives. They gain insights into various areas of employment law, such as
- Remuneration payments
- severance payments
- protection against dismissal
- Formulation of references etc.
After the conciliation hearing, the presiding judge(s) take time to answer questions from the students. They explain the role of HR staff in labor court hearings and discuss the possibility of acting as honorary judges.
