Last month, some students visited the Mannheim Labor Court and reported on their experiences:
Vivienne H: "It was very exciting, especially the diversity of the individual cases and their approach in court was interesting to see. Also with regard to our degree programs and the fact that it is also possible for HR managers to appear in court, the visit was good preparation for later practice!"
Erik K.: "I was amazed at how quickly an agreement is often reached between the parties, as the judge actively works towards settlements - which is practical for him because he then doesn't have to write a judgment. I found the case in which an HR manager or the company neglected to give the employee a proper warning particularly exciting, which put the employee in a much better position in court. This showed how important good HR work is for a company. It was also interesting to see that the process in practice is often much more direct and solution-oriented than one imagines in theory. It was an exciting opportunity to experience the differences between theory and practice and to learn from them."
Lisa K: "The excursions provided an exciting insight into the true working reality of an HR Business Partner. The lecture topics became tangible for the students."
Natascha D.: "From default judgments and missing warnings to the competent representation of the employee side by a legally compliant logistics manager, the excursion to the labor court covered everything. We were not only able to gain impressions and confidence in dealing with the labor court for our professional practice, but also had a diverse insight into the possible course of such conciliation hearings."
