The "Wagner Family Award" focuses on people as the center of social, economic and societal thought and action. It has become very clear, especially during the Corona period, that ethical and social values are essential building blocks of organizations, companies and society as a whole. In a competitive and number-oriented environment, these are ultimately the basis for sustainable success.

The "Wagner Family Award" honors outstanding scientific work from all disciplines represented at the HWG, which, based on sound professional knowledge, deal with human, social, economic and/or ecological aspects. Practical discussions are just as welcome as theoretical concept papers.

The three best submitted works will be awarded the following cash prizes:
1st prize: €1,500 I 2nd prize: €1,000 I 3rd prize: €500

The jury for selecting the prize winners is made up of one representative from each of the Departments, two student representatives and one person from outside the university.

Friedrich Gennheimer, who died in 2022, left part of his estate to support outstanding graduates of the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society. Every year, two excellent theses in the fields of marketing or viticulture, oenology and wine marketing are honored. The prizes are endowed with € 2000 (Bachelor's thesis) and € 3000 (Master's thesis).

Friedrich Wilhelm Gennheimer was born in Neustadt an der Weinstraße in 1930. The Gennheimer family is known in Neustadt under the company name Gebrüder Gennheimer Sektkellerei. His professional career began with a degree in business administration, which he completed as a Diplom-Kaufmann. This was followed by a teaching position for general business administration at the vocational schools in Speyer and a transfer to the State Higher Business College in Ludwigshafen, where he also taught business administration. Just one year later, he was appointed professor at the Ludwigshafen department of the Rhineland-Palatinate University of Applied Sciences. Gennheimer taught there in the fields of marketing, human resources and training. From 1979 to 1987, he was Dean of the Ludwigshafen department and was responsible for founding the Worms department and the East Asia Institute in Ludwigshafen during this period. Gennheimer retired in 1996, although he continued to teach as a lecturer in the Department of Business Administration in the years that followed.

In memory of Friedrich Gennheimer, the Friedrich Gennheimer Prize was established in 2023 together with the Haniel Foundation as the awarding institution. The Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society and the Haniel Foundation can already look back on 25 years of cooperation.
