About the Toolbox: Getting Started Information
The heterogeneity of students confronts teachers with very different requirements, needs and expectations of teaching content and didactics. This is where the toolbox for good education in a diverse student body comes in. It offers teachers an analysis of which aspects of diversity are particularly relevant in education and how standard teaching formats, methods and examinations take learning-relevant diversity into account.
The toolbox originated from Prof. Dr. Jutta Rump's idea to analyze and prepare the topic of diversity in education for professors and other teaching staff. The concept and the texts of the toolbox were developed jointly by the departments of Studies and Education at Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society (Imke Buß, Petra Schorat-Waly) and the Institute for Employability (Prof. Rump, Melanie Schiedhelm, Janina Kaiser).
The lecture by Imke Buß "Diversity relevant to learning: theoretical limitation and practical consideration" was recorded on November 8, 2017 at the University of Graz as part of the "Highnoon - Didactics at lunchtime".
It provides a good overview of the theoretical concept of learning-relevant diversity as well as the dimensions of learning strategies and self-directed learning. It also reflects on the event format of learning team coaching in relation to aspects of learning-relevant diversity and explains the structure of the toolbox.
