On July 16, 2021, the Verein zur Förderung des Ostasieninstituts e.V. awarded the Alumni Scholarship 2021 for the first time to a total of four scholarship holders of the East Asia Institute of the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society. This year, the scholarship, which is mainly financed by donations from OAI alumni, went to Svenja Greiwe and Fabian Mönsters (both majoring in China), Caroline Tille (majoring in Japan) and Lea Boehmig (majoring in Korea). All of them are currently in the 4th semester of the International Business Management (East Asia) degree programs.
A total of €5,350 in donations was received, €3,300 of which came from an anonymous major donor alone. The Sponsors' Association supplemented the sum with a further €250 from association funds, bringing the total amount awarded in 2021 to €5,600. The two scholarships focusing on China are endowed with €1,650 each, while those for Japan and Korea are endowed with €1,150. (The difference in the amounts is due to the desired earmarking of donations for individual focus areas).
The East Asia Institute would like to thank the Förderverein for their commitment to providing scholarships for the best students of the year. The generosity of its donors makes it possible to at least partially compensate for the Haniel scholarship, which has unfortunately been discontinued.
Congratulations to the four scholarship holders, who will hopefully be starting their year abroad this fall.
