Causes of gender homogeneity of study programs at the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences

Project Management:Prof. Dr. Elke Raum
Project duration:06/2014 - 12/2014
Project description:

According to the current Equal Opportunity/Women's Advancement Plan, the overall percentage of female students at the university was 52% in the summer semester of 2012. However, when looking at the degree programs in detail, a not insignificant number of both bachelor's and master's degree programs with a significant overrepresentation and underrepresentation of male and female students, respectively, stand out. Bachelor's degree programs with a significant underrepresentation of female students are, for example, logistics or business informatics. An underrepresentation of male students can be found, for example, in the nursing and social studies programs or the International Human Resources Management and Organization program.
The goal of the project applied for here is to build on the AGFRA concept "Gender Heterogeneity in Study Programs" to analyze the causes of gender homogeneity in certain study programs and to derive specific recommendations for action.
The insights gained can be incorporated into reaccreditation procedures of existing study programs or accreditation procedures of new study programs and contribute to an increase in gender heterogeneity in gender-homogeneous study programs.

Target groups:Students; degree programs in all departments
