External quality requirements

External quality requirements also play a role in quality assurance and development at the university. The German accreditation system provides for a regular review of the university's study programs, in the case of the Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft as part of program accreditations.

The legal foundation of the accreditation system is formed by the "State Treaty on the Organization of a Joint Accreditation System for Quality Assurance in Studies and Education at German Universities (State Treaty on Study Accreditation)" and the so-called Model Law Ordinance of 07.12.2017. The state of Rhineland-Palatinate implemented the regulations into state law in the State Ordinance on Study Accreditation of 28.06.2018. The requirements serve to guarantee a defined "minimum quality" of the courses on offer and are therefore part of quality assurance.

In the area of evaluation, the university cooperates with the Hochschulevaluierungsverbund Südwest (HESW) and the Center for Quality Assurance and Development (ZQ) at the University of Mainz as the managing body of the HESW. Evaluation processes and evaluation instruments are regularly coordinated with the HESW / ZQ.

Regular (re-)accreditations of the university's degree programs by the Accreditation Council are an important element of external feedback on the success of quality assurance and development, particularly in the degree programs, and provide helpful impetus for further development.
