More than 40 students from the BSc Midwifery, BSc Midwifery Science and M.A. Innovative Care Practice in Nursing and Midwifery degree programs, lecturers and staff from the field of midwifery science took part in the 17th National Midwifery Congress in Berlin from 15-17 May. The German Midwives' Association, the organizer of the Midwives' Congress, reports a total of around 2800 participants.

The representatives of the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society were also actively involved in organizing the congress. In addition to moderating research forums, lecturers and students contributed to workshops, seminars and lectures.

Prof. Dr. Barbara Filsinger, for example, passed on her obstetric expertise to the participants in the seminar entitled "Birth of twins: where, when and how?". Dr Rosemarie Horcher-Metzger was invited by the congress organization for the seminar entitled "Being able to talk to people, being able to address problems". Cordula Fischer took part in a specialist forum together with the "Young and Expectant Midwives" organization of the German Midwives Association on the topic of "From theory to practice". Prof. Michaela Michel-Schuldt, PhD made her mark at the Midwifery Congress at two events, a themed table on the regulation and self-administration of the midwifery profession and the Barcamp entitled "Your contribution to fairer access to midwifery care for marginalized groups", which she organized together with the students of the Master for Innovative Care Practice in Nursing and Midwifery.

One of the highlights was the founding of the Midwifery Science Faculty Conference (HWFT), in which Prof. Nina Knape, PhD, Vice President of the HWG LU and Head of the Bachelor's degree courses in Midwifery Science and Midwifery, joined the Executive Committee as an assessor. In her new role as an advisory board member of the HWFT, Nina Knape will represent the discipline of midwifery science on behalf of the HWG LU in terms of higher education policy .

In addition to the HWG Ludwigshafen, a total of 14 other midwifery colleges and universities were involved.
