Prof. Dr. Nina Knape, Vice President for Studies, Education and Diversity, and Petra Schorat-Waly, Diversity Manager, presented the results of the Campus Culture & Campus Climate survey to a small but interested audience and discussed the measures derived from them.
One important measure, which was also explicitly suggested by student representatives, is the introduction of confidential students at the HWG LU. As part of a pilot project, student representatives are currently being recruited to act as a low-threshold point of contact for students - initially until summer semester 25. As part of the concept, the student counsellors are not supposed to provide advice themselves, but rather act as signposts to raise awareness of existing advice services, such as the Studierendenwerk's social counselling service or anti-discrimination advice. At the end of the project phase, the measure will be evaluated and a decision will be made as to whether and to what extent the Confident Students project will be continued.
Another measure to be implemented this semester is the introduction of a "Room of Silence" where university members can pray, relax and/or meditate individually. The Diversity department is still looking for members of the university who would be interested in using the space and can imagine working together to develop usage regulations and a furnishing concept. The aim is to create a space that is available to all members of the university for individual use and can be used for contemplation and peace regardless of ideology or religion.
