Since February 1, 2022, Dr. Nikolas Wölfing has held the Chair of Economics at the Department of Management, Controlling, HealthCare at the University of Business and Society (HWG LU). Before moving to the HWG LU, Wölfing was a junior professor at the Mannheim Institute for Sustainable Energy Studies at the University of Mannheim, where he taught in the doctoral program of the Faculty of Business Administration, among other things. He has more than ten years of experience in applied economic research and consulting as a member of the Environmental and Resource Economics research department at the Center for European Economic Research in Mannheim (ZEW). He will remain associated with ZEW as a Junior Research Associate in the Market Design Research Group.
Nikolas Wölfing studied economics and social sciences at the University of Potsdam, followed by quantitative economics at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in Paris. He obtained his doctorate in the joint program of the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the Paris School of Economics with a thesis on competition and price formation in wholesale electricity trading. He has spent time as a visiting scholar at Fudan University in Shanghai and at Stanford University in California. Nikolas Wölfing's research focuses on environmental and industrial economics, in particular the analysis of energy markets and climate policy interventions.
