Planned for August 2020 and slowed down by the pandemic, the long-awaited International Week took place from 19 - 23.06.23 at the partner university of HWG LU, Ilia State University in Tbilisi. The main topics were the implementation of mobilities and internationalization options with Erasmus KA 171.
30 participants mainly from international departments of universities from Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania, France, Spain and Germany completed a dense and intensive program. Kerstin Gallenstein from HWG LU and Inmaculada Lazaro-Asenia from Universita Politecnica de Valencia contributed to the program with a joint interactive workshop on "Intercultural Awareness".
The young team of the International Office of Ilia University around Salome Bilanishvili, Maka Iortkipanidze and Mariam Orjonikidze had carefully framed the professional program with varied and impressive activities, starting with an introduction to the Georgian language up to a day trip to the Caucasus with numerous historical, cultural and culinary highlights.
Tbilisi, a city of over a million inhabitants, looks back on a long and eventful history and combines architectural relics from almost 2 millennia with a multicultural population structure, which is noticeably confronted with new challenges due to current political events. Nevertheless, Georgians retain their overwhelming life-affirming friendliness and warm-hearted openness.
