On 13.11.2021, Dr. Monika Roth, lecturer at the Department of Management, Controlling, HealthCare and Head of Corporate Development at Vinzentiushaus Offenenburg GmbH, shed light on the topic of care for older people in need of care in Germany and the neighboring countries of Austria, Switzerland and Denmark as part of the Fifth Rhineland-Palatinate Demopraphy Week. This not only highlighted the differences in care structures, but also showed very different approaches to how "need for care" is recorded as a prerequisite for access to welfare state services. With regard to Germany, Dr. Monika Roth emphasized the need to work on differentiated needs planning that not only includes inpatient services, but also starts well in advance with the prevention of the need for care. Dr. Roth believes that the municipal and regional levels are responsible for planning requirements and ensuring sustainable, local service structures.
With almost 30 participants throughout, the event on Saturday morning was very well attended. The lively discussion during and after the presentation demonstrated the great interest in the topic, and there was no shortage of suggestions for another presentation at the next Demography Week.
