HWG LU applies for Impact of Diversity Award 2022

This year, with the newly created category University Award, the Impact of Diversity Award for the first time also honors universities that are particularly committed to underrepresented groups and to diversity and equal opportunity within their institution through diversity activities. The Coordination Office for Equal Opportunity & Diversity has taken up this opportunity and applied on behalf of the University of Applied Sciences (HWG LU).

In a nutshell, who works at the Coordination Office and what is its mission?

Founded in April 2016, the Coordination Office is an association of diversity officers at HWG LU. This enables the fields of action of equality, family friendliness, accessibility and diversity to be dealt with effectively. The establishment of the Vice President for International Affairs and Diversity in 2019 has released additional synergy effects with the International Office. In the coordination office, the university's diversity officers work together across target groups and intersectionally. In doing so, they focus on people with their individual life situations and develop participatory strategies and concepts for measures that promote equal opportunities.

What difference does the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Coordination Office make?
As a pioneer in the protection against discrimination, the Coordination Office goes beyond minimum legal requirements, for example in the design of the Directive on Protection against Discrimination. Its gender equality work is also bearing fruit: the proportion of female professors has increased from 33.33% in 2014 to 37.50% in 2020. With the established event series "Women in Focus" and the "Diversity Days" as well as workshops on topics relevant to equality and diversity in society and business, the coordination office has a strong presence at the university. It also actively initiates certification opportunities such as the Proudr Index or the Diversity Audit and thus contributes to organizational development.

Please support our  university's application for the Impact of Diversity Award by voting until February 18 at: https://www.impact-of-diversity.com/award/
