International Symposium "Challenges for Health Care in a post-pandemic Future" successfully launched

The first symposium of the European University Alliance EuroInnA is taking place today and tomorrow at Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences as a hybrid format with the participation of all four European universities in the network. State Secretary Dr. Denis Alt delivered the welcoming address from the Ministry of Science and Health RLP at the very well-attended opening event; Lord Mayor Jutta Steinruck welcomed the symposium guests via video message.

Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society (HWG LU) has been a proud member of the European university network EuroInnA since 2021, which includes the university in Ludwigshafen as well as the Finnish Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK) in Rauma, the Czech Tomas Bata University in Zlin, the Universidad de Huelva in Spain and the Universidad do Algarve in Faro, Portugal.

As part of this European university network, the HWG LU is organizing a hybrid symposium on 5 and 6 May on the topic of "Challenges for Health Care in a post-pandemic Future". At the very well-attended opening event on Thursday, 5 May 2022, in the university's auditorium, State Secretary Dr. Denis Alt delivered the greeting from the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Science and Health: Rhineland-Palatinate is located in the heart of Europe and the state government is aware of the great importance of international cooperation. International exchange is important for individual development, but also far beyond that for the region, state and federal government, said State Secretary Alt.

"The city is very proud of its university - it has been an important part of the city's society since it was founded over 50 years ago," emphasized Jutta Steinruck, Mayor of the City of Ludwigshafen, in her video message. Like Ludwigshafen, the university stands for openness and interculturality and the topics of sustainability, health and digitalization on which the conference is based are of great social relevance, not just since the coronavirus pandemic.

In his welcoming speech, University President Prof. Dr. Gunther Piller also emphasized the importance of international exchange, especially in view of the very different healthcare systems across Europe. The topic of the international symposium, "Challenges for Health Care in a post-pandemic future", was predestined for research questions and comparison with other perspectives, said the President.

Kerstin Gallenstein, Head of the University's International Office, and EuroInnA project coordinator Katharina Klüver-Beck then introduced the participating universities in the EuroInnA network, which are taking part in the two-day symposium online. The English-language event was initiated and organized by the university's International Office under the direction of Kerstin Gallenstein and Professor Dr. Edith Rüger-Muck, Vice President for International Affairs and Diversity.

Following the opening event, today and tomorrow there will be exciting insights - in person or via Zoom - from science and research into the health management of the future. The agenda includes presentations on topics such as "Technology in Health Management", "Holistic Health", "Global disruptions of sexual and reproductive health services" and "Nutrition for brain and soul".

The lecture program will be framed by a workshop on "Brain-friendly Studying", sports activities, neck massages and ICAROS, a combination of fitness equipment and virtual flight simulator provided by Techniker Krankenkasse.

The European University Network European Innovation Alliance (EuroInnA) is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
