The Senate of the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society (HWG LU) elected two new Vice Presidents yesterday: The current incumbent Prof. Dr. Edith Rüger-Muck stood for re-election and was unanimously confirmed in office. Her second term of office begins on February 1, 2023. Prof. Dr. Nina Knape was also elected by a large majority. On March 1, 2023, she will replace her predecessor Prof. Dr. Ellen Bareis, who did not stand for re-election at her own request. Together with University President Prof. Dr. Gunther Piller and Chancellor Carolin Nöhrbaß, the two Vice Presidents complete the Executive Board of HWG LU. The term of office for the Vice Presidents is four years.
Prof. Dr. Edith Rüger-Muck has been Vice President for International Affairs and Diversity at the university since February 2019. She studied business administration at the University of Mannheim and then worked as a research assistant at the WHU School of Management in Vallendar before completing her doctorate in 2003. Her doctoral thesis took her to Microsoft in Redmond, WA as a Marketing Research Assistant. Various positions at Europcar in Hamburg followed, most recently as Marketing Director and authorized signatory with international marketing & pricing projects in Paris, Barcelona, Madrid and London. In 2011, she was appointed to a professorship for marketing at Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences and initially worked at the Neustadt Wine Campus. Since 2015, she has been head of the International Marketing Management Master's degree program. With the new term of office, the structure of her department will change: she will then be Vice President for International Affairs and Communication.
Prof. Dr. Nina Knape has been Professor of Midwifery Science and Head of the Bachelor's degree courses in Midwifery and Midwifery Science as well as a member of the University Council at HWG LU since 2015. After qualifying as a midwife, the 47-year-old studied nursing and healthcare management at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. She is particularly interested in healthcare research. The focus here is on health economic evaluations for the obstetric care model of the midwife delivery room and the significance of care density and the workload of midwives for the quality of obstetric care. She completed her doctorate at Witten/Herdecke University in 2017. Prof. Dr. Nina Knape will take over as Vice President for Studies, Education and Diversity in March 2022.
