Dr Stefan Iskan, Professor of Logistics and Business Informatics, in particular Automotive SCM and Digitalization, has published a specialist book on the "Logistics sector of the future". The book examines the future viability of Germany's third-largest economic sector and draws up practical scenarios for the coming years of the European transport and logistics industry.
What is the future of the European logistics industry and what needs to be done to successfully set up and transform the transport sector in times of digitalization, the "Green Deal" and a shortage of skilled workers? These are the key questions that Dr. Stefan Iskan, Professor of Logistics and Business Informatics at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society, explores in his new book.
Based on the current state of the industry, Iskan first identifies the global megatrends and the influence of new technologies, as well as the opportunities and challenges that these present for logistics companies. In his opinion, the consequences of a rapidly developing digital 4.0 business world are particularly important for logistics and transport players.
Logistics expert Iskan then names the central technological modules of the future industry and explains the necessary transformation processes in the development of logistics into a process and value-added supplier. He sheds light on the tension between the pressure of digitalization and analogue challenges as well as the necessary changes in terms of processes, technologies and personnel.
With a concrete transformation plan, Stefan Iskan concludes by providing logistics players and their customers from industry and retail with information on how the industry's transition can be successful in the future. Iskan is convinced that the transport and logistics industry will experience an immense increase in its importance, performance and scope of services worldwide.
The book "Zukunftsbranche Logistik - Zwischen digitaler Industrialisierung und analoger Herausforderung" by Stefan Iskan was published in August 2021 by Campus-Verlag in Frankfurt.
Dr. Stefan Iskan is Professor of Logistics and Business Informatics at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society. After working for well-known companies in the logistics sector, he also advises logistics service providers on transformation processes.
