International Human Resources Management
The skills and motivation of personnel are increasingly becoming a strategic success factor in modern organizations. Human resource management can and must make a decisive contribution to this.
Target group
Graduates of business-related first degree programs who wish to take advantage of a consecutive, i.e. advanced and continuing, business administration personnel degree program for their further professional and academic development directly after their Bachelor's degree or after a short period of professional activity. Most of our students have previously studied at a university of applied sciences (HAW)/FH or a dual university in Germany, but some students also come directly from abroad or from traditional universities.
In a deliberately small student group of only around 20 - 25 students per year, you will have the opportunity to develop individually and study together with excellent fellow students with very good supervision ratios.
The Master's in HRM is one of the oldest consecutive Master's programs in business administration at German colleges and universities. The Ludwigshafen Department of Human Resource Management is one of the very few universities that can offer the complete HRM course spectrum in terms of personnel and science with the consecutive Bachelor IPO, the IHRM Master in Human Resource Management and the continuing education MBA HRM.
Guiding idea
The course vision is to offer an academic training programme with an international component that meets the needs of internationally active companies for junior commercial staff for complex, generalist, strategic, intercultural tasks in the management of people, teams and organizations.
The degree programs therefore combines several perspectives in its competence objectives:
International Business Management + Human Resources (personnel and organization) + (General) Management. As a whole, this becomes: IHRM - the IHRM Master.
The specific Ludwigshafen profile in the field of HRM compared to other HR Masters is characterized by the in-depth study, specialization and coverage of all relevant HR subjects plus organizational management. The homogeneous admission requirements ensure that students can delve into the subject in depth from the very first semester - and do not have to gradually build up a common foundation in business administration, economics and law.
Many students deepen their profile in the direction of Human Resources Management due to the semester abroad and the company thesis. Others, on the other hand, take the opportunity to broaden their profile from a good HR foundation, particularly in the direction of general management. And a third group, who have not yet been abroad during their first degree, strengthen their own internationality with a semester abroad and/or a thesis abroad.
The course integrates the necessary interdisciplinary aspects from related sciences, e.g. law, in order to be able to deal with the specific characteristics of international, global or transnational organizations.

Concept
The Master's in Management is a full-time consecutive business administration degree program. Scientifically sound, but with an application-oriented profile, it focuses on personnel and organizational management in international companies. Graduates of the degree programs can work as specialists and managers in human resources management, in particular in globalized companies with classic corporate careers. Internationally oriented career paths are possible as a generalist or as an HR specialist.
Depending on their career goals, our graduates also develop management careers as commercial all-rounders in export-oriented medium-sized companies or internationally oriented SMEs. After graduation, they can start their careers in Germany, Europe or overseas, with the majority of graduates starting in Germany and later spending several years abroad.
The M.Sc. degree, which is typical for Master's degree programs in management, ensures the necessary quantitative and research methodological skills to subsequently begin a doctorate in economics in Germany or abroad or to work as a research assistant at a research center or institute for personnel economics.
