Prof. Dr. Axel Kihm, member of the ETAP network (European Taxation and Accounting in Practice) since2007 and multiple organizer of the Working Meeting and the European Accountancy Week, was able to invite the members of the ETAP network (European Taxation and Accounting in Practice) to the Working Meeting in Ludwigshafen for the first time. 21 colleagues from 12 European countries took the opportunity to get to know both the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society and the metropolitan area Rhine-Neckar from September 8 to 11, 2019.
The guests from Belgium, Finland, France, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Austria, Russia, Spain, the Czech Republic and Hungary were welcomed to the university on the first morning by Prof. Dr. Edith Rüger-Muck. In her role as Vice President, she took the opportunity to introduce the university and its large network of global collaborations. During the breaks, there was an opportunity for a bilateral exchange with colleagues from the International Office.
The annual meeting is the secret recipe for the network, which has been in existence for over 20 years and is almost a rarity, especially in times characterized by virtual meetings. Face to face over two days, content and organizational preparations for the next European Accountancy Week (EAW) are made and initiated. The 21st EAW will be hosted by Györ in Hungary. From March 8 to 14, 2020, students will have the opportunity to work in mixed international teams to answer case study-oriented questions on international accounting. This will be based on lectures by colleagues on the topics of assets, liabilities, equity and financial analysis.
A visit to BASF SE was also on the program for the group. The large factory site was first explored by bus, after which the Visitor Center offered a cross-sensory insight into how chemistry enriches everyday life. An excursion to Heidelberg with a cable car ride to the guided castle tour and a 'typical German' dinner in a brewery rounded off the program.
Up to 10 students have the opportunity to accompany Prof. Dr. Axel Kihm to Györ in March at a cost price of 100 euros plus travel expenses. Interested students are welcome to send an email to axel.kihm@ 8< SPAM protection, please remove >8 hwg-lu.de. An information event is planned for October at the Department.
