On Wednesday, November 6, 2019, three outstanding theses at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society were awarded the "Wagner Family Award" at a ceremony. The award-winning theses show how professional activities can take people into account and support them. Monika Dumler, Anna-Lena Gerdon, Alicia Schneider and Carolin Adam received this year's sponsorship award, worth a total of 3,500 euros, from the hands of the sponsor, Dr. Dieter Wagner, and his family.
The Wagner Family Sponsorship Award has been presented at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society for the sixth time since 2014: With this award, the donor family around the long-standing Chairman of the University Council and Honorary Senator Dr. Dieter Wagner honors Bachelor's and Master's theses that deal with values and ethical-social behavior in social contexts in an academically sound manner. The award once again highlights the broad spectrum of socially relevant topics that are dealt with at the university. On Wednesday, November 6, 2019, Monika Dumler, Anna-Lena Gerdon and the team of authors Alicia Schneider and Carolin Adam were awarded this year's "Förderpreis der Familie Wagner", worth a total of 3,500 euros, at a ceremony hosted by the Marketing and Human Resources Management Department.
This year, two winners took first place with prize money of 1,500 euros each: Monika Dumler from the International Marketing Management Master's course and Anna-Lena Gerdon, a graduate of the Social Work Bachelor's course. Dumler impressed the jury with her Master's thesis on "CO2 emissions of the last mile in online grocery retail", supervised by Philipp Piroth, as did Gerdon's Bachelor's thesis "Dementia villages - the pros and cons of freedom in enclosure. Current considerations for social work with the elderly", supervised by Prof. Dr. Arndt Götzelmann. Third place, endowed with 500 euros, went to the author duo Alisa Schneider and Carolin Adam from the Health Economics in Practice degree programs for their bachelor's thesis on "Human papillomaviruses (HPV) - associated diseases, preventive options and potential access routes to HPV vaccination", supervised by Prof. Dr. Elke Raum .
The "Wagner Family Prize" is awarded annually and is aimed at graduates from all four Departments of the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society. This year's jury consisted of Prof. Dr. Elke Raum, Prof. Dr. Harry Müller, Dieter Ott, Prof. Dr. Andreas Rein, Pastor Dr. Günther Geisthardt, Dr. Dieter Wagner and students Tamara Tag and Irina Chzhao.
