Since 2013, the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society and the Shadrinsk State Pedagogical University in Russia have been cooperating on a contractual basis. Student and lecturer exchanges have been realized continuously, also thanks to the mobility grants available through the DAAD Eastern Partnerships program.
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary celebrations as part of the German-Russian Days, several conferences, seminars and workshops on international topics took place at the University of Shadrinsk from 22-25 October 2019, supplemented by a wide range of festive events - some of which were also organized and carried out by highly motivated students.
Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Krieger from the Department of Social and Health Sciences and Kerstin Gallenstein, Head of International Affairs, accepted the invitation from Shadrinsk University to present and represent the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society there. Both held seminars and lectures as part of the program Cooperation between German and Russian universities: exchange of experience and perspectivesprogram, which was officially opened by the cultural attaché of the German consulate in Yekaterinburg. The main topics of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Krieger and Kerstin Gallenstein were joint curriculum development as a perspective of cooperation, realization of mobilities and internationalization.
In the festive opening program of the 2nd conference within this week Modern Education: Traditions and Innovations Prof. Dr. Krieger introduced the methodological approach of the learning portfolio to the anniversary audience of lecturers, students and numerous professorial guests from other Russian universities and from the partner countries Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
The big festive anniversary event with an impressive variety of musical and dance performances by the students took place in the theater of the city of Shadrinsk. The rector of the Shadrinsk State Pedagogical University, Prof. Dr. Artur Dziov, opened and moderated the evening-long event. In recognition of his many years of service to the cooperation between the two universities, Rector Dziov awarded Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Krieger an honorary professorship medal from the University of Shadrinsk and thanked him for his tireless efforts to bring the cooperation to life and for his ever-present academic input.
In addition to all the celebrations, extensive planning discussions were held with the head of the International Department there, Elena Elizova, in order to consolidate and deepen the joint projects. In addition, a promising contact was established with the DAAD lecturer Robert Oertel at the University of Tyumen, who promised his support in expanding the cooperation.
All in all, this trip contained an extraordinary wealth of unforgettable moments, intense impressions and great human encounters that will be remembered for a long time to come.
