Student ID card at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society
The student ID card will be digital from the winter semester 2024/2025 (start 01.09.2024). It will be integrated into the "HWG-LU" campus app. In order to receive the digital student ID, the "HWG-LU" app must first be installed.
The campus app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store: "HWG-LU" App (UniNow GmbH).

Existing copies of the student ID card "StudiCard" can still be used.
In the event of loss or defect, a new StudiCard will no longer be issued.
Photo for the digital student ID card
Please upload a passport photo of yourself for your digital student ID.
Time of the photo upload:
1) The photo upload can be done during online en rollment in the application portal. Uploading the passport photo is the third last step "Upload photo" in the "Apply for enrollment" process.
OR
2) Once you have enrolled, you can upload your passport photo in your personal student portal under: "My studies", "Student services", "Pictures" tab.
Requirements for the photo:
- Format JPG
- Width: at least 400 pixels
- Height: at least 500 pixels
- Size: max. 1 MB
"StudiCard" - payment function and top-up
The StudiCard can be topped up at rechargers in the B-building at Ernst-Boehe-Straße 4 and at the cafeteria checkouts in the B-building.
In the canteen, you can currently pay with the StudiCard and in cash.
In the library, payment is currently only possible with the StudiCard.
In addition, fees for university services such as the issuing of second certificates or certifications can be paid with the StudiCard. For this purpose, vouchers for the corresponding service are purchased at the cafeteria cash desk and in the library, which are then presented to the SSC Student Management for the desired service.
"StudiCard" - validation and period of validity
The StudiCard is only valid for the semester in which you are enrolled.
As soon as you have effectively re-registered, you must validate your StudiCard. When validating, the validity date is printed on the back of the card (28/29/02 or 31/08). This ensures that the StudiCard remains valid until the end of the semester of re-registration.
The validation machines are located at the following places:
- A-building in Ernst-Boehe-Straße 4 - opposite the main entrance
- B-building in Ernst-Boehe-Straße 4 - near the canteen
- Weincampus Neustadt
Please note: In case of loss or defect, no new StudiCard will be issued.
Library card
Books can currently only be borrowed with the StudiCard. In addition, book replacement costs and late fees must be paid with the card.
Locker key
The lockers in front of the libraries in Ernst-Boehe-Straße and Maxstraße are locked and opened with the StudiCard. There is an information terminal next to each locker where you can see which locker is occupied when you put on the card. If lockers are occupied for longer than 24:00, they are automatically locked. The locker can then only be unlocked by a member of the library staff.
"StudiCard" as a guest card for the canteen and library
- Guests receive a guest card for the cafeteria for a deposit of 20 € at the cafeteria cash desk.
- A guest card for the library can be purchased for €20 at the library.
